Local Pro Kit
Accessibility statement
Last updated:
We want everyone to be able to use Local Pro Kit — to read about it, order a website and look after it — including people who use a screen reader, a keyboard, zoom or other assistive technology.
The standard we work to
We build and test this store, and the websites we make for our customers, against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. That is our goal. We don’t claim that every page fully meets it yet — see “What isn’t perfect yet” below.
What we test, and how
This store
- An automated accessibility test (axe) on every store page, on a small phone screen (320 pixels wide) and on a desktop screen, against the WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules. We don’t release a change while it finds a serious or critical problem.
- Every store page at 320 pixels wide, with no sideways scrolling.
- Scripted keyboard checks on the main tasks: the free check form, the header’s language switch, and the full-size sample site, which opens and closes from the keyboard and puts focus back where you were.
- Pages with “reduce motion” turned on, and the main pages with JavaScript turned off.
- Buttons and links at least 44 pixels tall on the main pages.
The websites we build
- Every website design is tested at four screen widths, from 320 to 1280 pixels, and must pass the automated WCAG 2.2 A and AA test with no problems found.
- Customer websites work without JavaScript, have buttons and links at least 44 pixels tall, and stop all motion for people who ask their device to reduce it.
- Every customer website has its own accessibility page, with that business’s own contact details.
What isn’t perfect yet
- Automated tests find many problems, but not all of them. We haven’t yet had an outside accessibility audit, or tested every page from start to finish with screen readers such as VoiceOver and NVDA.
- The Spanish and Japanese pages are translations still waiting for review by a native speaker. Our Terms, Privacy Policy and Acceptable Use rules are in English only.
- You pay on Stripe’s own checkout page, and the optional Google profile check signs you in on Google’s page. Stripe and Google run those pages.
- The pages under /lab/ are technical demos for our team and are not covered by this statement.
Tell us about a problem
If something here doesn’t work for you, or you need information in another way, please tell us. Say which page it was, what you were trying to do and what happened — and, if you can, which device, browser or assistive technology you use.
If you’re a customer, text the support number in your app, or reply to any email from us. Our public support number will be listed here before we take payments. We never give out anyone’s personal phone number.
A person on our team reads every accessibility report. We aim to reply within 2 business days.
